Question |
What do the blessed ‘Ulama state regarding the following matter: Is markhor a Halal animal or a Haraam one?(Questioner: Pervez Qamar) |
Markhor is a wild animal larger than a goat, and it is a grass-eating quadruped. It is Halal. There is no reason for it being Haraam. If there is such a quadruped which neither has fangs (the two teeth which are visible out of the mouth of quadrupeds are called fangs) or it has fangs but does not hunt through them such as camel, nor does it eat dead animal, it is Halal; and both these attributes are found in markhor.(Durr-e-Mukhtar, vol. 9, pp. 620; Fatawa Razawiyyah, vol. 20, pp. 313) |
